When a pool gets handed from sub to sub
A pool is built in layers that depend on each other: the dig sets the walls, the walls set the footing, the bottom sets the liner, the deck sets the fence line. When each of those layers belongs to a different outfit, a mistake at one hand-off becomes the next crew's problem, and the homeowner is the one standing in the yard trying to find out whose it is.
That is why Mr. Pool builds with its own construction crews instead of subcontractors. Electrical is the one trade we sub out. Everything else, from the first excavator pass in your Alabama yard to the last panel of the safety fence, is done by people who work for the company that signed your contract.

Excavation to safety fence, in order
The sequence on a Mr. Pool build runs excavation, then the walls and concrete footing, then the concrete bottom, then the liner, then the concrete deck, then the safety fence. The standard deck is 10 ft on the ends and 6 ft on the sides, and every custom pool comes with a safety fence and cover.
Standard sizes are 12 x 24, 14 x 28, 16 x 32, 18 x 36 and 20 x 40, in shapes from rectangles to wavy, T-shapes, L-shapes and our curved Capital shape. Custom work, such as a waterfall, a hot tub, an outdoor kitchen or a fireplace, is drawn into the same sequence so it is built at the right phase instead of cut in afterward.
How long it takes depends on the design and the yard: anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. We give you the timeline at your consultation, before any work starts, and one customer noted the crew's last touch was finishing the dirt work so sod could be laid.
The handover at the Mr. Pool school
A finished pool is not the end of the job. Every new owner goes through the Mr. Pool school, our own training, where you learn the equipment, the maintenance tools and how to keep the water balanced. One reviewer described the whole experience as running from a first meeting with Everett to the pool school with Cooper.
The standard package hands the pool over with balanced chemicals, a choice of 20 mil or 27 mil liner, and 10 percent off all chemicals after that. Construction carries a one-year warranty.
